One of the great blessings of life is being able to find joy in nature.
During the summer we often travel to National Parks or resorts based on some theme, looking for that refreshing antidote to our busy lives.
Marc and I went to the Getty Museum a couple times, it’s one of those day getaways that satisfies any age or interest level. I’d heard how popular it was and thought, “I’ll believe it when I see it.”
The spacious grounds seemed very natural but meandered thru undulating foliage and concrete or rock formations in such stunning ways. You get a triple treat at this museum because everything is built to please your eye… architecture, grounds, sculpture all immerse the visitor in a visual delight you can’t put out of your mind!
From the #405 Freeway you see its stark white exterior and you’d never guess such natural beauty would lay behind the walls. I usually go to a museum for the paintings, sculpture and art inside the buildings but I like this museum for the natural art outside. The botanical gardens work off the architecture and other plants or water with shadows, colors, angles, shapes that I’d never dreamed possible. It’s not just the work of a landscaper mixing water and flora, but the ‘artists’ used nature with such definitive creative choices that people return over and over.
When you visit Los Angeles it’s easy to find, kid friendly and it’s ‘free’ …. but parking reservations are required. Natural beauty is one way God refreshes us …. you will not be disappointed here! The Getty Villa in Malibu is another art venue museum styled after an ancient Roman villa, and it beautiful in the traditional way, however… the Los Angeles Getty was just out of this world wonderful! For Marc too!
