TV and social media are ramping up talk of elections this Fall. People view the candidates from different perspectives. This coming election isn’t a joke. It’s a serious battle we all need to own. This election is US!
This election battle is what happens when we don’t take charge and get involved in our country.
These political battles are going on because we have allowed our minds to become like virtual tweets all the time and we can’t process the normal pro’s and con’s of issues to help us decipher self-serving candidates from true servants of the people.
This is what we get when we don’t pray for our country with our kids but put down our elected officials in front of them, so they are afraid to consider political life for fear of what people will say.
This is what we get when we trust certain national media or entertainment so much that we give into their distorted images and words, instead of thinking for ourselves and asking questions.
What we have in part is a disgrace cause a lot of us know better about who is really qualified for office and who isn’t. I’m putting myself in this too, as this is what I was brought up in.
We have a job to do, a big one … to honor our countrymen with right living, talking and actions. We owe our country an apology for not paying attention in PTA meetings, or watching over our neighbors better. Many people don’t even vote which is the biggest shame. The public trust is very precious, but some are treating it like they can do whatever they want.
Being in the “public eye” has become the escape route for accountability for many, that’s not what it used to be. Anyone who is given power in the public sector has to keep a balanced life in order to avoid the world sooner or later finding out about his or her sins or vices. None of us is immune to pride, covetousness, lying …. in front of a cheering mob or the private inducement of bribery, power or sex ….. unless we are disciplined, experienced and grounded in our values.
There are very few people nowadays who are principled enough to really make a difference in office, but …. there is hope! I watch programs that encourage people to run for office. More Vets, Dr’s and pastors are running for office lately. There are seminars, organizations that teach principles of public service! It’s encouraging!
The Public Eye
Everyone wants her …. they growl and shove
Everyone wants her like they want love
Some shout, some swear, some go crazy, some coax
Some draw her in like a puff of smoke
The public eye
Better watch it
Your hearts desire
You might get it
She’s picky and fickle, she follows few
She can’t be bought or caught like the flu
Can’t wheedle your way into her heart
No it can’t be pierced by cupids dart
Chorus
She’s courted and wooed and not understood
Give her your heart, you lost it for good
The public eye’s sought like a rare pearl
Everyone wants her but she’s no ones girl
People try to tame her they don’t understand
You can’t have your own life if you give her your hand
Try as you like you can’t have it both ways
A contract with her will curse all your days
The public eye
Make no mistake
I don’t want her!
