Whenever a war breaks out and is particularly senseless, there’s usually immediate public outcry.
The war in Ukraine has been one of those wars as it’s being waged almost exclusively against the civilian population. The war is in It’s second month now, and there’s now many accounts on Twitter ablaze with hourly updates, speculations and out right lies. I read & report info from pretty trusted open resources, but have heard some bizarre reports from Russia.
Russia has a history of bragging and lying in their news reports, and in the last few years has worked hard to create fake social media accounts. Generally they spout only info that refers to them as being superior and others being in the wrong. Recently they’re reporting propaganda re: the war that cites their “valid” reasons for going onto Ukrainian soil.
Pres. Putin has planned out the lies:
- Russia needed to go on Ukrainian soil in order to “de-nazify” Ukraine.
- There are Russian speaking people in Southern Ukraine who were begging for us to rescue them
- The Ukrainian government is corrupt, and needs to be replaced.
- Ukrainians should not become members of NATO, this would be a threat to Russia.
- Ukraine is planning on using bio-weapons against us, so we must invade to stop them.
I recently listened to a video and read articles about the bio-labs in Ukraine. The labs were well known by Russia because they opened them before the Soviet Union collapsed in 1990. The labs were studying tick transferred diseases, T.B. strains and other such problems that were plaguing the Ukrainian population. (It’s more complicated, but that will do for now.)
When the Soviet Union collapsed and Lithuania, Latvia, & Estonia split from Russia, the United States went to Ukraine to help smooth out tensions and wind down the labs. There was a bill in the U.S. Senate dealing with the monitoring of the labs. The labs were openly known by Congress and not used by the U.S. or Ukraine for fostering bio-weapons against Russia.
Erick Erickson, political radio personality/lawyer/pastor, says: “Putin has suggested that the United States is secretly running bio-weapon laboratories in Ukraine that are a direct threat to Russia. This is the latest conspiracy theory that started in the fringiest corners of the internet and now is in wider circulation. Like all good lies, there is a portion of truth in this claim. However, the more concerning aspect here is the number of Americans whose contempt for the United States is so strong they would rather believe Russian lies than the truth:”
When I speak of Russia, I speak mainly of Putin and his cronies in power. The Duma, Russian Generals, and the oligarchs have been a part of his web of deception for decades. Putin also has power over many Russian Orthodox priests, who have stoked his ego by allowing him to foster seemingly legitimate grounds for his invasion against Ukraine, and any other country he sees fit to annex or invade.
Putin has been paranoid about NATO for years and has sought to keep Russia a super-power akin to the golden era pre-collapse. He operates under the guise of caring about “the Russian motherland”, but we are all aware of his preposterous claims. Putin poisons his opposition or has them killed, like with Navalny, who was poisoned abroad and is now in a Russian prison. Even U.S. & other embassy workers have been victims of Russian bio war attacks in the form of the “Havana Syndrome”.
Russian lies are a fact of life and we in the West need to catch up. People of hope and faith need to be aware of events in other countries, so we stay vigilant and protect our strong yet fragile political freedoms ~
