This post isn’t about smoking. God forbid we get too bent out of shape on a religious holiday. This is a serious post but it wouldn’t be right to leave out the way God is strange, and allows us to get close to a fire but not burned.
Easter and Passover –
Easter has always been associated with Passover. It was God’s plan to have it that way. Both of those days are celebrations of one kind or the other. They are both testimonies of escape or I’ll just say… salvation.

The Torah shares about Pesach as the celebration of God delivering the Jews from bondage in Egypt.
At Easter Jesus rose from the grave, thus conquering death, and delivering mankind from hell.
This Easter will be a time of assurance for many, but we also go thru the process beforehand of gritting our teeth and groaning inwardly for the torture Jesus endured for us! Every year we share the gloom of the cross, and we can go thru the motions with joy too because we know what lies ahead. Life in abundance after Jesus rises!
Life isn’t only about us, there’s something bigger.

Jews got to see the Death Angel pass over them.. we Christians are reminded that we’ve had death pass over us thru Jesus.
It makes no difference to go to church or have a Passover meal if you don’t believe in what it represents. We might as well throw the meal in the garbage, or get up off the pew, and call it a day, if our faith is a sham.
God has a way of sending us comfort after loss.
The Jews came out of Egypt safe, healthy and with much jewelry, and gold. Jesus came out of the grave and sent the Holy Spirit. Even though living without Marc in this world has been a monstrous load to comprehend, at no time have I felt abandoned by God.
The Easter and Passover stories don’t end with blood on the door, or blood on our Lord… but, a New Day! And it’s only “new” insofar as each person takes it personally.
Happy Easter!
